University of Glasgow: The Quantum and Nano revolution: A new generation of industry on the Clyde

As we stand on the brink of a second “quantum revolution”, Glasgow and Scotland are leading the way across the UK and internationally – with the world-leading James Watt Nanofabrication centre and the recently refunded Quantum Enhanced Imaging Innovation Centre (QuantIC) as vital parts of our eco-system led by the University of Glasgow. We are determined to build on this position and take the next step to ensure Scotland’s position as the world-leader in the field is cemented – and recently announced plans for the new Clyde Waterfront Innovation Campus to be based in Govan, with the potential to be to the area’s 21st century economy, what shipbuilding and heavy industry were in the 20th. The event in Scotland House, supported by the Scottish Government, will be a chance to learn more about the existing strengths at the University, how industry can partner with our world-class research base and infrastructure and what our exciting plans for development could mean for Glasgow and Scotland’s economy. There will be brief presentations from Senior Vice-Principal of the University of Glasgow, Professor Neal Juster and Dr Sara Diegoli and Professor Miles Padgett who are leading the Clyde Waterfront Innovation Campus project. Roger McKinlay, Challenege Director of Quantum Technologies for UKRI and Brendan Casey, CEO of Kelvin Nanotechnology Ltd. Will also discuss the opportunities surrounding quantum tech in Scotland. This will be followed by an opportunity to network and throughout the evening guests will be served delicious food and drink, including Scottish specialities.
